  1. Great! We have combined 4 files into 1 and saved a lot of space in the
  2. process, BUT...

  4. Because the files were combined and compressed, they are no longer in a
  5. state where they can be executed, or read, or whatever their prior
  6. function was... In order to be restored to their original state, the
  7. arc file must pass through an "un-arc" utility which will extract from
  8. any arc file, the files that were used to make up the arc in the first
  9. place.

  11. The un-arc utility will undo all the compression and combining done by
  12. the arc utility. That is, the individual files will be restored to their
  13. original size, name etc. The files will then be exactly as they were
  14. originally...
